Lose the limits and imaginary lines that would hold you>

Red Thread hosts, running guides Steve and Tracey, understand limits and know what it is to push them. After meeting through a charitable running organization the two of them have continued to train and complete marathons together fundraising thousands of dollars for The Arthritis Society’s program called Joints In Motion, which they were formerly a part of. As Provincial Coordinator of the program, Tracey managed and motivated 200 volunteers to fundraise and run marathons raising $350,000. Traveled to International events participating in marathons in Dublin, Switzerland, Hawaii and Florida with the team.

Together they have accumulated a collection of medals for the 14 marathons, numerous half marathons and smaller distance runs they have completed. Their current goal is IronMan in Panama City, Florida November 2008.

While in Florida at the Disney marathon participating in the Goofy race (63.3 km in two days) another idea was born: to host our own race! A team of organizers formed and A Midsummer Night’s Run—a 30k/15k nighttime run in Toronto in support of SickKids was soon created. We are gaining attention as a fun running event complete with costume contests, weekly draws and a celebratory tent at the end of the night.

“I think I’ll run in a tutu from now on”… Sarah, Pace Fairy
“A great race and lots of fun. Loved the shirts, best medal ever” Debra

Returning to our roots, of traveling and fundraising we have created Team Midsummer for the Disney marathon in January 2009. Be part of an exclusive team, fundraise for SickKids and let the magic of Disney move you through the 42.2km course.

Another organization your hosts are a part of is Achilles Canada. Achilles provides athletes with varying disabilities with the opportunity to run through pairing Achilles athletes with able-bodied athletes/guides. Steve and Tracey guided Michael Ovens, a visually impaired Achilles athlete on his first half marathon in 2005. Michael continued training and qualified for Boston in 2007. Steve had the selfless honor of guiding him throughout the historical course that many runners dream of. http://www.achillestrackclub.ca/home.html
Today both Tracey and Steve continue to be involved through guiding their now friend, Michael Ovens.
